WARREN
PRATT
BOARD ADVISOR
After 30 years of visiting and mapping grassroots, advanced projects, and existing mines on six continents, Warren has a unique perspective on what constitutes a potentially economic mineral deposit. Very few geologists have spent as much time with ‘boots on the ground’. This experience is vital for assessing grassroots projects and recognising their potential at an early stage. The step from ‘off the radar’ Junior or Private company, to a company with a significant discovery, is the one that holds the most value for investors.
Warren (BSc Geology, Hull, 1986; PhD Structural Geology, University of Wales, 1990) is a Competent Person as defined by Chapter 17 of the UKLA Sourcebook. He has a strong mapping background and a decade of British Geological Survey experience and training. After early exposure to gold in Malaysia in the late 1980s, in the 1990s he worked mainly on volcanic rocks in Wales, on engineering geology projects, and in the roofing slate industry. In 1994 he won the President’s Award of the Geological Society of London for detailed thematic mapping. Apart from the UK, he has extensive world-wide field experience in a great variety of geological terrains. Since 1995 he has worked extensively in gold, silver and copper exploration, including consulting on some World Class mineral deposits. These include Taca Taca (copper), Navidad (silver) (Argentina), Ventana Gold (Colombia) and Cangrejos (gold) (Ecuador).
Dr Pratt has a track record of generating gold/copper targets in under-explored areas, for example, the Cañicapa high sulfidation gold project, discovered during a World Bank program in Ecuador. He led the team that discovered the Igor gold/silver epithermal deposit (Sienna Gold Corp) in Peru. He is fluent in Spanish. Warren also leads training courses, mostly sponsored by the Society of Economic Geologists, on porphyry copper and orogenic gold deposits.
